Reserve price, Buy Now and time extensions
Three settings shape every auction: the reserve price, an optional Buy Now price and the anti-sniping extension.
Reserve price#
The reserve is the lowest price the seller will accept. It is hidden. The auction page shows whether the reserve has been met.
- If your maximum meets the reserve, the price jumps up to the reserve.
- If the auction ends below the reserve, nobody wins. The seller may still offer the domain to the highest bidder afterwards.
Buy Now on an auction#
Some auctions also have a Buy Now price. Pressing Buy Now ends the auction at once, and you win at that price. Depending on the marketplace settings, Buy Now disappears after the first bid or once the reserve is met.
Time extensions#
A bid placed in the last minutes extends the auction by a few minutes. This stops last-second "sniping" and gives every bidder a fair chance to answer. An auction can be extended a limited number of times.
Limits and checks#
- You may need a confirmed e-mail address to bid.
- For high amounts, the marketplace may ask for identity verification first.
- There is a daily limit on bids, and unusual bidding patterns are reviewed by staff.
