An auction can find the market price of a domain, and it creates urgency. You set the rules, buyers compete.

Set up an auction#

  1. Add the domain or edit it in My Domains.
  2. Under How do you want to sell it? choose Auction.
  3. Enter the starting price, an optional hidden reserve price and an optional Buy Now price.
  4. Choose the duration and whether it starts at once or on a later date.
  5. Verify ownership and submit the listing. The auction starts when the listing is approved, or on the date you chose.

While it runs#

My Auctions shows the bids, the current price and the time left. You get a notice for bids and when the reserve is met. You can cancel an auction only while it has no bids.

When it ends#

  • Sold: the winner gets an order to pay. Transfer the domain once the sale shows it is paid.
  • Unsold: no bid met the reserve. You can accept the highest bid anyway with a second chance offer, or re-list.
  • Unpaid: the winner did not pay. Offer the domain to the runner-up, or re-list it.

Tip: a low starting price draws more bidders. Protect your minimum with the reserve, not with a high start.
