Manual review and registrar verification

1 min read Updated Nov 4, 2026

If you cannot add a DNS record, there are two other ways to prove ownership.

Manual review#

  1. On the verification page choose Manual review.
  2. In How do you own it? say where the domain is registered and under which name.
  3. Upload proof, for example a screenshot of your registrar's domain list that shows the domain and your name. JPG, PNG or PDF.
  4. Press Start verification.

A moderator looks at your proof and tells you the result by e-mail and on the page. Manual review is slower than DNS, so use DNS when you can.

Verify through your registrar account#

Under Portfolio you can connect an account at a supported registrar. We read the list of domains in that account. Every listing of yours that we find there is verified by itself, with no DNS record needed.

  • The connection is read-only. We cannot change, renew or move your domains.
  • Your keys are tested when you connect and stored encrypted.
  • If a domain leaves the account, we notice at the next sync.

Registrar sync may depend on your membership plan. See Connect a registrar account.
