Where to add a DNS record
DNS records live wherever the domain's name servers point. That is usually your registrar, but it can be a hosting company or a DNS service.
Find your DNS provider#
- The listing page in My Domains shows the name servers we found for the domain.
- Name servers like ns1.yourregistrar.com mean the registrar runs your DNS.
- Name servers of a host or a DNS service mean you add the record there, not at the registrar.
Add the TXT record#
- Sign in at your DNS provider and open the DNS settings, also called DNS zone or advanced DNS, for the domain.
- Add a new record of type TXT.
- In the host or name field, paste the short host we show. Most panels add the domain for you. If yours asks for the full name, use the full host name instead.
- In the value field, paste the value exactly, without quotes.
- Save, then press Check now on the verification page.
The verification page has short help for many registrars under Where do I add the record?
Tip: use the Copy buttons. One wrong character and the check fails.
